My grandfather misremembered the middle name they'd agreed on, so my aunt was baptized with the wrong middle name -- and the baptismal name was considered the "real" one, not the one they'd decided on. I was just wondering what would happen with an errant godfather or godmother who 1) forgot, 2) decided he/she knew better, or 3) accidentally mangled the name. I would also think that the parents might be able to protest, if present, but again, I can see the bedridden mother asking the father for a description of the event, being told, "Yes, everything went just fine for little Parsnip," and crying out, "It was supposed to be Penelope!" It's one of those scenes that will likely end up in a book one day. :-)Regina Scotthttp://www.reginascott.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7730888263639781223.post-1210097612492311642012-09-28T16:23:20.014-04:002012-09-28T16:23:20.014-04:00Congrats on your beautiful grandson.
