Her books are realistic in a way that novels of the time usually weren't and she knew how to be subtle in her satire, something that I think no one else has been able to capture. She was definitely one of the best things about the 19th century. I also enjoyed Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte and I have liked the Elizabeth Gaskell movie productions I have seen North & South, Wives & Daughters and Cranford. I remember reading North and South in college and liking it but didn't quite see it as a love story until I saw the movie version. (Nice Mr. Darcy type hero).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7730888263639781223.post-47778270675895743102008-09-23T18:56:00.000-04:002008-09-23T18:56:00.000-04:00Jane Austen is without a doubt one of the best thi...Jane Austen is without a doubt one of the best things about the 19th century. I haven't read P&P yet but it's on my shelf just waiting. Once the semester is over I plan on wasting no time delving into it. :DAmeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10895337474855212021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7730888263639781223.post-60011320421862633932008-09-23T15:34:00.000-04:002008-09-23T15:34:00.000-04:00I LOVE Jane Austen.
